Climbing

Kletterwald Prien

The climbing forest overlooking Lake Chiemsee is embedded in a 100-year-old giant tree forest with a direct view of the beautiful Chiemsee! Prien am Chiemsee is located in a wonderful location and not far from the Landgasthof Karner. In the forest you are climbing at an altitude of 1-14 meters, with 13 courses and over 110 exciting exercises can be completed. The Smart Belay security system used, two carabiners that communicate with each other and can only be unmounted at a time, guarantee your security. Prienavera Bad

The Prienavera indoor pool is open all year round. From May to the end of September, the water world inspires with a little special for sun lovers: The associated beach resort with direct access to Lake Chiemsee delights visitors with its spacious sunbathing lawn. Moreover a children’s playground with sand play area under the sun sail, table tennis, a beach mington course, two private jetties and the beach café also help spoiling its guests. The children hop off the springboard, benefit from the shallow entrance into the lake and slither down the giant slide, which has been especially inflated for the summer holidays.

Hiking & Climbing

Around Frasdorf there are countless hiking routes, depending on the requirements of the holidaymakers. A very popular starting point is the Kampenwand. With the Kampenwand cable car you can easily reach the 1,500 m high mountain peak. Guided hikes are possible from the mountain station. Another hiking paradise with numerous possibilities awaits you at the Hochries – the Rosenheimer Hausberg. One of the most famous managed huts in the Chiemgau is the Frasdorfer Hütte, also called “Frasi”, in the Hochries area. You want to explore the region on 2 wheels? No problem! From Frasdorf, well-developed cycle paths lead in all directions. There is something for all levels of difficulty: from easier routes through flat valleys to challenging routes into the mountains. Take the oldest steam tram in the world. The narrow gauge railway travels a total distance of 1.91 kilometres in about eight minutes, which corresponds to an average speed of about 14 kilometres per hour. As a special feature, the tram is usually only operating on steam during the high season and is now considered to be the oldest continuously operating steam tramway in the world. The small, coal-fired local railway is under preservation order since 1980 and with its nostalgic character it is definitely worth a ride.

Visits to the Prientalmuseum and Burgladerl are only possible within the framework of guided tours. The guided tour lasts an hour during which you you can see the documentaries on the history of the castle, the arbor hall, an all-round painted “table room” and the Preysingsaal with Italian plasterers.
