In Chiemgau

The Chiemgau has a lot to offer all year round. In addition to the internationally known and popular Oktoberfest in Munich, there are plenty of other events and activities around Frasdorf. Our hotel itself has a beautiful wellness area where you can relax and enjoy the day in peace. The Chiemgau is known for its ski slopes and snowy peaks. The popular Kampenwand and the Steinplatte are close by and provide skiing and snowboarding fun for big and small. There is also a toboggan run with great views. In December you will find the annual Christmas markets around the area – especially the magical Fraueninsel is worth a visit. In the following, we have gathered some inspiration for you.

Skiing

Skiing fun on Sudelfeld and Kampenwand

For skiers and snowboarders, the slopes in this region are perfectly groomed. Whether you are a beginner or a professional, everyone gets their money’s worth here. In addition, the ski resorts Kampenwand near Aschau, the Hocheck in Oberaudorf, Sachrang with its beginner lifts or Germanys biggest skiing region – Sudelfeld, Germany’s largest ski area near Brannenburg, aren’t far away. On rustic huts you can enjoy the winter sun and celebrate apres Ski. The ski area for advanced skiers, the Kampenwand, is located right in the neighbouring village, just 5 km from Frasdorf. Toboggan run at Frasdorfer Hütte in Chiemgau

Below the Aschauer Kopf there is a beautiful, not too steep toboggan tour. Shortly after the start there are two fun turns that challenge every sledger. Going down is quite fast, but going up is very comfortable, so that the tobogganing pleasure doesn’t come with much effort. The popular Frasdorfer Hütte offers a nice stopover. It is a privately run refuge above Frasdorf and Aschau. It is located in the Chiemgau Alps 4.5 km northeast of the Hochries in the Upper Bavarian district of Rosenheim. More…

This family-friendly ski area is an Eldorado for all winter sports fans and is located between the Dürrnbachhorn and the Kammerköhrplatte, in the middle of the border triangle of Bavaria, Salzburg and Tyrol. In various levels of difficulty the Steinplatte/Winklmoosalm ski area guarantees an unforgettable holiday for all ages. On this easy winter hike you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the Chiemgau and Tyrolean Alps. The premium winter hiking trail “Kaiserblick” starts at the cross-country stadium and runs without major climbs in the valley floor of Reit im Winkl. After only a few meters you will see the Tyrolean Kaisergebirge, whose panorama gives its name to the award-winning winter hiking trail. The trail leads slightly downhill over snow-covered meadows before reaching the picturesque, unspoilt floodplain forest. With a little luck you will meet a few animals of the region. More…

EFA MOBILE ZEITEN

If you prefer to stay indoors and are a car fan: The museum “EFA Mobile Zeiten” shows about 250 German classic cars on 6000 m² of exhibition space in Amerang, Upper Bavaria. Through an audio guide and monitors, visitors learn interesting details about the vehicles and the respective era. A fascinating journey through many epochs awaits you – from the first motor carriage to the grandiose creations of the 20s and 30s, the legendary small cars of the 50s to the classics of the 70s and 80s. Experience a romantic excursion with the powerful farmer’s roasters of Sepp’n farmer. Explore the charming landscape between Kampenwand and Chiemseemoor. As an alternative, there is the possibility to take the carriages to the steamer jetty in Bernau/Felden or to be picked up from there (duration approx. 50 minutes). Additionally, pick-up or drive from/to the train station in Bernau Chiemsee is also possible. An individual program with various excursion destinations and catering offers is possible on request. Around 90 Christmas stalls offer unique handicrafts, gift ideas for all tastes and many surprises. A special highlight is the stand with real alpacas. Munich’s oldest, traditionally Bavarian Christmas market takes place every year around Marienplatz. The stalls and handicraft stalls are located on a site of 20,000 square meters. The assortment of market merchants ranges from Old German Christmas decorations such as hand-painted glass balls to lambskin jackets, nostalgic paper pictures and goods from the partner city of Kiev.
